Open in new windowPresident of the Republic Omer Albashir expressed hope for a successful Referendum on Self-determination for southern Sudan that reflects the will of the people of south Sudan. President Albashir made the statement Saturday while receiving at the Guest House the former American President Jimmy Carter, affirming keenness of the Sudanese government to implement all clauses of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) that stipulated running of the referendum for south Sudan.
Mr. Carter said in a press statement that President Albashir briefed him on plans to continue dialogue with the leaders of south Sudan to overcome any possible future obstacles.
He explained that he had a constructive discussion with the President of the Republic who renewed his full support to the right of the people of south Sudan in self-determination through the referendum process.
