The Official of African Department of the United Nations Peace-Keeping Force has appreciated the remarkble progress in the security situation in Darfur region, commending the steps taken by the government to implement the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur and the launching Darfur Regional Authority in Al-Fasher
The UN official who met yesterday, the Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Rahamtalla Mohamed Osman, said that the visit of the UN delegation to Sudan comes in the context of the regular inspection visits to the United Nations African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID).
Meanwhile, Ambassador Osman lauded the efforts being exerted by the UN to reach the agreement, stressing the importance reassessment of the UNAMID mandate, especially with regard to the size and number of forces
He underlined that the government is working closely with UNAMID and provide it with facilities to enable it to perform its mission, adding that the regional developments have contributed remarkably to tto enhancement of the situation in the region
He pointed to the voluntary return of the displaced people to their home areas in Darfur
