The President of the Republic Omer Albashir phoned Sunday evening Mohamed Mursi, the nominee of the Egyptian Freedom and Justice Party, and congratulated him on his election as the President of Egypt.
In a related development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs appreciated, in a statement it issued Sunday evening, conclusion of the elections in Egypt , the declaration of its result, and praised the role played by the Egyptian Supreme Military Council in managing and sponsoring the election in Egypt. The Foreign Ministry has affirmed its respect to the will of the Egyptian people and their choice of the President of Egypt. The statement affirmed Sudan's keenness to cooperate closely with the elected President and Government of Egypt for the interest of the two nations.
