The Speaker of the National Assembly Ahmed Inrahim Altahir and Chairman of Darfur Regional Authority Al-Tegani Sessi are to address the opening sitting of the Forum of Darfur parliamentarians at the National Legislature and states' Legislative Assemblies to be held today Thursday in Al-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State. The Conference is organized by the Ministry of Affairs of the Regional Authority Council.
The Minister of the Affairs of the Darfur Regional Authority Council Mohamed Yousif Al-Tilib said in a statement to the Sudan News Agency that the Forum aims to consolidate the coordination between the Authority and the Darfur legislatures at the National Legislature and Legislative Assemblies of Darfur States, besides creating a conducive environment for achievement of peace and development in the region.
He added that the Chairman of the Council of the States Adam Hamid Musa, the governors of Darfur States and Heads of Legislative Assemblies of Darfur will attend the conference. Al-Tilib said that the Forum will discuss a working paper on the role of the National Legislature and the States Legislative Assemblies in implementation of Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD).
