The activities of Sudanese-Malaysian Commercial and Investment Forum will start today Thursday at the Friendship Hall to be honored by the First Vice President of the Republic Ali Osman Taha and the Former Malaysian Prime Minister and Islamic Economist Dr. Mahathir Mohamed under patronage of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and External Trade and the Council for international people's friendship with participation of 36 Malaysian governmental and private sector bodies. The former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad has arrived Khartoum Wednesday on a three-day visit responding to invitation by the First Vice - President, Ali Osman Taha. He was received upon arrival at Khartoum Airport by the Minister of Oil Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz, and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs Salah Wansi. In a statement to the press at Khartoum Airport, Mr. Mahathir Mohamad said that he came to visit his friends in Sudan after an absence that lasted for years and to be informed on the developments in Sudan. Dr. Mahathir indicated that he will take part Thursday at the Malaysian Forum for Investment and Trade. He will also give a lecture on the Malaysian experiment on development. Meanwhile, the Minister of Oil Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz has described the relations between Sudan and Malaysia as a special, adding that the visit of Dr. Mahathir will contribute to pushing ahead the ties between the two countries and will be in favor of the two nations.
